Two people talking

A sitting service: We run a sitting service for carers, provided by volunteers, to enable carers to have a break from their caring responsibilities. This service is free to carers, and the volunteers expenses are met by the scheme.

A visiting service: This is a service for elderly people living alone, who would enjoy some extra company. Volunteers will pop in once a week for a cup of tea and a chat.

Support Groups: We offer support groups to carers. They meet each month in different parts of Ryedale and offers the opportunity to share their concerns, receive some positive support and simply take time out to relax.

Night Care: The volunteer will sleep in your house overnight to give the carer a break. A small contribution is made directly to the volunteer.

Visiting Nursing and Residential Homes: Volunteers will visit Nursing and Residential Homes and spend time talking to the residents.

Returning Home from Hospital Service: Our latest service offers volunteers who will provide practical and emotional support to people over 65 to achieve a safe, secure and successful return to their own home after a period in hospital. This might be a regular pop in for a few days or a couple of visits a week until such time as the person has the confidence to manage on their own (up to a maximum of six weeks). The aim of the service is to alleviate the patient’s worries and concerns enabling them to regain confidence and return to their former state of independence.
